It was a bit windy, but we all set off down to the bottom field to have our annual Interhouse Sports Day on Friday, 13 April. This was not a day to have a Friday-the-13th phobia. The fun races always provide many laughs and giggles and some cheating too. The class races were very exciting and everyone raced their best.
The Championship Races were next and these always tends to be more serious as we have medals up for grabs. It was most impressive seeing how fast our little ones run. The winners in Grade One were Paetyn Gravett and Micah Groener, both in Chapman. In Grade Two it was Zoë Jerling(Chapman) and Tayton Plato-Uithaler(Weymouth) outrunning the rest. Bianca Graham(Kennersley) and Jaryd van Loggerenberg(Chapman) took the honours in Grade 3. We are sure that maybe one day we will see these super athletes running for South Africa in the Olympics.
The inter-house relays were lots of fun and this year Chapman was the top house with 138 points and they proudly collected the trophy. Kennersley came second with 100 points. Closely behind in 3rd place was Weymouth with 96 points and then Albury with 79 points in 4th place.
A big thank you to all the parents and grandparents, family and other friends who spent the day with us and especially those who took part in the parents' races. Also a special word of thanks to Mr Goosen and the ground staff for preparing the field for us and to all the teachers who helped make the day such a success.
