Each year Think Ahead host the Excellence in Education Awards to honour the digital work created in our schools across South Africa. It was the first year that we have entered our Junior iPad Club into the competition. The category #mySA was a new category launched this year and an exciting one allowing the Grade 3 club members to explore their story writing and movie making skills which we had been working on during the course of the year.
There was much anticipation as we were notified that one of the projects submitted had been placed within the Top 3 in the category #mySA. It was such a privilege to attend the awards evening in Johannesburg on the 26 October and to be a part of this spectacular evening honouring the talents of teacher and student driven teams as their work was showcased.
What a wonderful surprise to hear Siv Ngesi deliver his judges video encouraging our learners to be positive about South Africa and to treasure these wonderful opportunities they have in school to produce work of such a high calibre. Our chosen project produced by Lara Aspeling, Linati Goniwe and Gabrielle Remy was placed 1st in the Grade 1-7 #mySA category. St Stihians Girls’ Preparatory were placed 3rd and Reddam House Waterfall were placed 2nd. Seeing the girls work broadcast to the audience was indeed a privilege. How proud we are of the wonderful achievement. Our congratulations to the team and we hope they are enjoying their awesome prize.
