Grade 7 Orators' Competition
The Grade 7 Orators’ Competition was held in the Martin Emmerick Hall on Wednesday 15 May. The audience was treated to excellent, well-researched and thought-provoking orals. Thank you to our two adjudicators: Mrs Pons and Mrs Scheepers, who brought years of experience to the assessment table.
The winner of the day was Siyaam Shaw who spoke passionately about “Bullying”. Her unprepared oral was “If I had only one wish, I would wish for …”. What followed was a hilarious description of her mother dancing which had the audience in stitches. Jasmin Esau received a highly commended acknowledgement for her prepared oral titled “Moral Integrity”. Lindsay O’Neill Campher was also recognized for effectively using humour in his unprepared oral titled, “In that moment, time stood still!” His prepared oral was #Guns must fall.
The other Grade 7 orators and their prepared topics were: Amy Saunders (Veganism), Joshua Robinson (If I won the Lottery), Connor Jay (Gaming Consoles), Chinika Goliath (An Experience I will Never Forget) and Sage Heard (Dangerous Places in the World). We are incredibly proud of our top-eight Grade 7 orators who spoke so beautifully and so clearly, and who were so committed and enthusiastic to public speak.
