The last Wednesday of the third term was QuizWhiz day at Herbert Hurd. Both the senior phase and the junior phase held their annual Inter House General Knowledge competition. In the junior phase, the teams are made up of Grade 3 pupils who must answer fifty multiple choice questions. It is their first experience of this kind of competition and there was much excitement among the competitors and their supporters. There are also questions for audience members who can win points for their house. Weymouth was the winner with 40 points. Albury came a close second with 38 points, Kennersley third on 35 points and Chapman fourth with 31 points. The senior competition was held between the breaks and was attended by all pupils from Grade four to seven. The teams are made up of Grade 7 pupils who are chosen after having completed a selection quiz. The senior quiz consists of multiple choice questions as well as questions for audience members. There are also two additional categories, a visual category where teams must identify well known people, and a music category where teams must name popular songs and singers. The music category was, undoubtedly, the favorite, among the audience members and the teams. Two of the teams, Albury and Weymouth, showed off their excellent musical knowledge by scoring full marks in this category. Albury was in the lead, from the start, and were the well-deserving winners with an admirable score of 66 points. Weymouth, Chapman and Kennersley took second (58 1/2 points), third (57 points) and fourth (56points) places.
