The Grade 7's went on an outing to Pine Lodge and Cape Recife on the 17th/18th of October. At Pine Lodge the children had the opportunity to zip-line, tackle the daunting high ropes and get their team through a series of challenges in the obstacle course section. The team spirit, not only between the group members but also between the teams, will not easily be forgotten.
The children also took a long beach walk at Cape Recife. Here they were tasked with the following activities: orienteering to get to different destinations like the lighthouse, fort and bird-hide, and going on a scavenger hunt to find various specimens like something hairy and something that flies, and to solve puzzles using morse code. The children had to use iPads to record evidence of all these things.
A great morning was had by all who attended this outing.
Friday the 12th of October had finally arrived! The long-anticipated Entrepreneurs' Day had dawned and with it brought rain. However, even this didn't damper the spirits of the Grade 7's and their parents. A contingency plan of moving from the field to the hall area was made, and in no time at all, the children were hard at work setting up their stalls and displaying their wares. There was a lovely variety of things to buy and activities to keep the rest of the school busy, especially the Haunted House! At the end of the morning raffles were drawn and children walked away with full tummies and high-sugar levels! Well done to the Grade 7's for the manner in which they conducted themselves and their small businesses. You are all most deserving of the profits that were made.

A huge thank you to one of our parents, Mr Shaheed Lottering, who sponsored the Under 13A cricket team with new playing shirts.
“SORRY about the mess but we are learning here!” Amongst the sea of magnetic letters, playdough, bendy men and Rainbow Nation, there are some Grade 3 girls and boys who are dedicated movie makers!! The Grade 3 iPad Club is in full swing!
Spending time script writing and bringing this script to life has been the BEST FUN EVER!! Smiles all around as we start to edit and complete our tributes.
What a wonderful way to celebrate Arbour Month and be able to plant two healthy indigenous trees along our tennis courts this morning. The trees were lovingly donated by Newton Park Checkers. Chantal van Jaarsveld and her team came along to witness the Foundation Phase planted the trees into the holes prepared by the ground staff of the school. Checkers and Herbert Hurd proudly supporting National Arbour Month.
