Thank you to each and every member of the HHPS family who contributed to this project by knitting, crocheting or sewing together blankets. We appreciate your efforts. We would like to thank two very special ladies in particular: Mrs Carol Cilliers knitted 500 squares on her own which effectively translates to 8 blankets! Mrs Geyser sewed together 24 of our blankets! Thank you so much for this fantastic contribution to the project. Kim Tucker will forward information about where the blankets have been sent once they have been handed out.

This event, which took place on Thursday 17 August in the Martin Emmerick Hall, has become an annual joy at which three primary schools and a high school perform for each other, and we end off with a number of rousing items performed by the three primary schools en masse. The first half of the evening consisted of heart-warming and entertaining performances from Summerwood, Collegiate Junior ( both of whom added a dance element to their programmes) and Herbert Hurd. After interval the Alexander Road Concert Band stunned the audience with a performance of the highest quality. The mass band then ended off the evening with separately-rehearsed pieces which came together beautifully under the b
The Grade 5 pupils visited the Addo Elephant Park during the past 2 weeks. The trip was thoroughly enjoyed by all. A hop-on guide accompanied the pupils through the park. Pupils were fortunate to see a wide variety of animals (elephant, buffalo, hyena, red hartebeest, kudu, zebra etc) and Room 27 even got to see the elusive lions. They enjoyed a picnic lunch at Jack's Picnic Camp. There were a number of pupils who have never seen animals in the wild before and hopefully this will be a trip that they will never forget.
The girls and boys departed for our annual Knysna Hockey Tour on Friday 12th August. When arriving we went straight to the Spur, and had a great lunch that was enjoyed by both children and staff. We then went to our accommodation at Woodbourne Lodge. The children had a chance to inspect their rooms and decide on roommates.
We then went to the gorgeous Oakhill grounds to play our matches. These games were played on Astroturf in the pouring rain. The kids loved this even though they came off the field drenched to the bone. Both the boys and girls won their respective matches. The boys won 4-0 and the girls won 3-0.
In the evening we had a big braai. It was no mean feat feeding 27 ravenous ch
On Saturday, Mr Matsha, brought 6 tennis players from the Motherwell Development Team to have a friendly match against Herbert Hurd.
The tennis was of a good standard and our parents must be thanked for supporting and encouraging both teams during the course of play.
We look forward to hosting them as often as possible.
