Grade 5 March for Child Protection

Our Grade 5 learners were invited to join the SAPS and many other crime prevention and safety authorities for their launch of the CHILD PROTECTION AWARENESS PROGRAMME at Kemsley Park. We joined many other schools in marching around the block to demonstrate against child abuse. Holding our school banner out front, we happily marched around chanting our slogans and making our presence felt as we were by far the largest contingent! The SAPS gave us posters to wave around to show passing motorists what we stood for. Thank you to Capt. Barker and Warrant Officer du Plessis for involving us on such a wonderful occasion.

HHPS has entered 5 teams in the schools' league this year. We play matches every Thursday. Here are a few photos taken at the Derby Day against Woodridge. We won 2 matches, lost 2 and drew 1.

Hudson Park Derby

HHPS travelled to Hudson Park for our annual fixture. This fixture is our only hosting fixture for the year whereby we host their children when they come here and they host us when we play there. There were some wonderful stories told on the side of the field with regards to the previous evenings accommodation! Things like how well they were fed, how HUGE their rooms were and how lovely the people were that they stayed with! Oh, yes, we also played sport against them! There were some fantastic match ups and an even mix of results for all the teams. We look forward to hosting Hudson next year.

Mothers' Coffee Morning

On Friday morning we celebrated our awesome moms at a coffee morning held in the school hall. The moms were treated to coffee and muffins and a few special songs sung by the Junior and Senior choirs. Congratulations to the moms who won prizes during the Mothers Day raffle draw organised by the PTA. Afterwards , the moms had the opportunity to visit their children in the classrooms. We trust that all our moms had a very special day on Mothers Day!

Gr 5 Literary Day

Well done to all the Grade Five pupils who took part in our Literary Day. The Grade Five pupils each read a book, dressed up as their favourite character and presented a review on that book. Our top eight orators were selected to present their oral to the whole grade. The classes also enjoyed taking part in a literary quiz. Congratulations to Room 29 quiz members who came out tops.

Gr 5's at Sundays River

The Grade 5 pupils went on their most exciting outing to date! We went class by class to Sundays River to join Captain Les from www.addocruises.co.za for a Sand Sledding experience second to none. We arrived and got the rundown of the day’s activities and headed out on the boat. Captain Les is very knowledgeable and imparted lots of information about Goliath Herons, Grunter (Tiger) fish, tides and the Sundays River itself. Each child got the opportunity to sled 3 times down the steepest dune alongside the river. Their favourite was definitely the Roller Coaster dune! Thanks must go to Captain Les and the teachers for taking the time and trouble to organise such awesome activities.

Junior Art Club

We have spent a few weeks exploring with color in Art Cub. We made lovely finger painted roses using only the primary colours and put them in lovely blue and white vases. They turned out so well and all of us were very pleased with ourselves.

Foundation Phase Athletics Day

On Tuesday 25th April, the Foundation Phase enjoyed their annual Sports Day. It was a beautiful day and much excitement was in the air! Which house would take the trophy? Parents and grandparents came out in their droves to support their children. Each child had a turn to participate in the flat running races, as well as an apparatus race. The top 10 runners in each grade got to show off their athletic skills in the Champion's races. The top 3 were awarded medals! Of course the highlight of the day were the Mom and Dad races! Our parents sure are competitive and much fun and laughter was had. The final event of the day were the House relays. Our little athletes ran so well and many a future
